rugby street pastors celebrating their new street pastors!
On Sunday 2nd April Rugby Street Pastors celebrated their new Street Pastors with a Commissioning Service at Bilton Evangelical Church led by Pastor Jonathan Skelton, the Chair of their Management team. They were also joined by serving team members, family and friends. All team members complete 50 hours of training prior to patrolling ensuring they are safe and equipped to deal with people and situations in a non-judgemental, non-confrontational manner.
Street Pastors are Christian’s showing the love of Christ in the night time economy Caring, Listening and Helping people often at their most vulnerable time.
They were privileged to be joined by the then High Sheriff of Warwickshire David Kelham, the Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe, his Communications Officer Priya Tek Kalsi, Inspector Sally Bunyard-Spiers, Safer Neighbourhood Team and Warwickshire Police Lead Chaplain Matthew Hopley.
Rugby Street Pastors have been Caring Listening and Helping To all those in need on Friday and Saturday night for 14 years. It is a joy and a privilege to serve our community and show the church in action serving our town.
The new Street Pastors have shown such commitment and completed the necessary training modules so that they are safe and effective on the street. Welcome to the team!
