unite campaign - international day for the elimination of violence against women
The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Led by the UN Secretary-General and UN Women since 2008, the 16 days of Activism until 10th December aims to prevent and eliminate gender based violence around the world and calls for global action to increase awareness, promote advocacy and create opportunities for discussion on challenges and solutions. Worldwide, Soroptimists work throughout the year to transform the lives and status of women and girls through education, empowerment and enabling opportunities. During the 16 days of Activism they will carry out various activities involving the colour orange to symbolise a brighter future and a world free from gender based violence.
