Regional High Sheriff Meeting
Once every year, the High Sheriffs' Association hold a regional meeting to brief High Sheriffs' in Nomination for the next two years on their role and on what they can expect to be asked of them in their year in office. This year, the meeting was held at the world famous Lord Leycester Hospital in the beautiful midland town of Warwick. Representatives were at the meeting from Shropshire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire and was hosted by John and Lindy Kilmaine, High Sheriff of Warwickshire in 2009/10.
Lt Col. Gerald Lesinski, Master of the Lord Leycester, spoke briefly about the history of the Hospital before lunch and asked all present to publicise it, as it relies entirely on charity to support it. The museum there is well worth a visit and the timber framed construction of the building are a sight to behold.
The meeting itself listened attentively to presentations from the Police, the current Lord Lieutenant of Warwickshire, the Director of Meway Secure Training Centre for young prisonners and the Town Clerk of Stratford upon Avon. After lunch, the current High Sheriffs of Shropshire and Warwickshire spoke about their experiences so far in their respective years in office and offered advice to those in nomination. Roger Wiggleworth spoke about the work of Crimebeat.
Congratulations to Lindy and John Kilmaine on their excellent organisation.
